“A new study shows that heat can produce a potentially toxic substance in high-fructose corn syrup that can kill honeybees and may also have human health implications.
Some commercial beekeepers feed the sweetener, which is also widely used in soft drinks and processed foods, to bees to increase reproduction and honey production.
As temperatures rose, the researchers found, levels of hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) in products made with high-fructose corn syrup also increased, jumping at about 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
The researchers noted that that other studies have linked HMF to DNA damage in humans.”

awww… damn! I rarely use sweeteners but when I do its usually honey… And its amazing for when you have a sore throat.

Yeh, we’ll all get our just desserts when farming techniques and the new diseases they perpetuate wipe out the bee… insect pollinated flora? We’ll be lucky.
Support the bees! Plant lavender and other bee friendly plants in every spare inch of space you have. Give them a home a buy a ceramic skep.
