ART SAVES: Il Silenzio

Il Silenzio from Brandon Noonan on Vimeo.

Conductor/composer Andre Rieu showcases Il Silenzio (commonly known as a variation of Taps) with trumpet solo by 13 year old Melissa Venema.

The song is much more beautiful when played in its entirety, as opposed to what we hear in movie funeral scenes.

This is probably the most peaceful five minutes you’ll have all day.

How is it that a 13-year-old girl with a trumpet can in five minutes display more soul, talent, and musical ability than the vast majority of “artists” getting paid millions to churn out overproduced and heartless commercial swill.

I’d wish her luck, but we all know she’s never going to garner a fifth of the success of, say, Lil’ Goddamn Wayne. She might as well turn to drugs now.
