The original “Lost Generation”, the generation of Hemingway and Steinbeck, faced a number of things our current generation faces: An ecomonomic collapse, environmental devastation (the “Dust Bowl” effect), and a senseless war (WWI), just to name a few obstacles. Thankfully after WWII, due in no small part to the New Deal and the G.I. bill, a robust middle class was built and things got better for the American populace on a whole. What we need now more than ever is a reinvestment into the American middle class, but it’s all going to get a lot tougher with the Roberts Supreme Court dropping 5-4 decision bombs on our democracy.

Yeah, that’s all cute and everything, but anyone who has been what I’ve been through and seen what I’ve seen knows damned well that if you let your employer know that they aren’t #1, you’re out of a job. And spare me the “I have a job where my employer hugs me every morning and gives me 7 weeks off annually.” I don’t give a shit.
