Yemen has been in the news a great deal recently – because of its supposed links with the training of terrorists. Yet little attention has been paid to the country itself – particularly its rich and surprising architectural heritage.

So little known outside the country this remarkable architecture has survived hundreds of years.

    wow i’m surprised that those secret cities have survied all these years. how did their ansestors know how to build with out the building collasping due to rock erotion?

    Clovenskull; Great minds think alike. As soon as I saw that photo, I had a mental image of me, in that building, and one too many pints…

    Heard being muttered by friends right before they hear a distant fleshy thump; “Hey, has anyone seen the toilet in this joint? Oh maybe it’s over here by the window?”
